Harp

Geneviève Létang decided she would like to play the harp when she was only four!

She is now very experienced in all kinds of harp music especially classical and contemporary.  She has developed her career in many different directions: solo, chamber music, recordings, orchestra, and instrumental training.  Her aim is to bring out and make known the extraordinary qualities of music for the harp.

She began her studies at the Strasbourg Conservatory when she was nine.  At the age of 18 she joined the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) and graduated with First Prize for Harp and Chamber Music.
She has played with many symphony orchestras including The National Symphony Orchestra Bordeaux-Aquitaine, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and for the last three years with The Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France. She has worked under the direction of conductors such as Armin Jordan, Peter Eötvös, Myung-Whun Chung and Ton Koopman and has worked with Dame Felicity Lott, Iris Vermillon, Teresa Berganza and Utte Lemper.  She is very interested in contemporary music and has played in first performances of works by important composers like Heinz Holliger, Philippe Leroux, Mario Stroppa, Gilbert Amy and Peter Oetvös. All this has greatly extended and enriched her musical life.

Geneviève has taught at Strasbourg  and Saint Etienne Conservatoires and for the last twelve years she has been a professor of orchestral repertoire including contemporary and lyrical and symphonic music for chamber ensembles and orchestras at the CNSMDP.
She is also regularly invited to give Master Classes in Europe in Belgrade, London, Freiburg, Geneva, Sao Paulo...
