Horn

Born in 1979 in Switzerland, Samuel Stoll studied french horn and natural horn at the „Musikhochschule Luzern“ and „Hochschüler der Künste Bern“ in the classes of Jakob Hefti und Thomas Müller.
Since he finished his studies in experimental musictheater in the class of Georges Aperghis at the „Hochschule der Künste Bern“, Samuel Stoll is working as freelance musican and performer. He is playing with different new music ensemble across Europe (Klangforum Wien, Kammerensemble, Neue Musik Berlin, Collegium Novum Zürich, ensemble Linea, ensemble Adapter, ensemble Chronophonie). The performance and installation of Samuel Stoll were also presented at the Museum für Gegenwartskunst Basel, art museum in Solothurn and Thun.
He is playing on a microtonal french horn, which was developped and built by the „Hochschule der Künste Bern“ and Konrad Burri. With this unique instrument he can play in 1/8 ton chromatically on the hole range of the french horn. In August 2011 he will be for 6 month artist in residence of the Kanton Bern in New York.
